FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
Currently, I am contracted with a few insurance panels, including Aetna, Optum, Quest Behavioral Health, Carelon Behavioral Health, Oxford, United Healthcare. If you are with another insurance not listed, I am happy to walk you through the process of inquiring about your out of network mental health benefits with your insurance provider so you can determine if you would be able to reveive reimbursement for the out of pocket cost of therapy, as I can provide a superbill to clients for reimbursement from their insurance. I take private pay clients as well.
WHAT KIND OF THERAPY DO YOU DO?
I hold a license in Marriage and Family Therapy. I draw from a couple of different techniques or theories in my practice with individual clients - CBT and Person-Centered and Narrative Therapy. CBT is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a straightforward approach of looking at one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they might be in dissonance with one's goals or out of alignment with one's authentic and desired life. My approach to therapy also includes recognizing my client's expertise on their life, their lived experiences and where they want to be in terms of goal-setting. This is encompassed in bringing in the Person-Centered approach which adheres to meeting a client where they are recognizing our innate tendency toward growth. Narrative Therapy adds an element of examining the stories we tell ourselves and how we want to rescript those stories. When working with couples, I typically bring in the same theoretical approaches and utilize Gottman therapy techniques as well.
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE? DO WE MEET IN YOUR OFFICE?
I am currently only doing telehealth - therapy via secure and confidential phone and video platforms. I am not currently doing therapy in person, but this is temporary and I expect to be back in person in the future. Therapy sessions are 1 hour.
HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT TO BE IN THERAPY
My work with clients includes an intentional approach to goal-setting - within the beginning phases of treatment, collaboratively identifying what your goals are for treatment: What do you hope to have accomplished/how do you want your life to be different by the time you are ending treatment? If we have goals that we are set on, the idea is that therapy will come to a conclusion when those goals are met. I am of the mindset that therapy is something that is meant to come to an end, but how long that takes is up to the goals identified and the client's satisfaction with having reached those goals.
